The Many Hues of Hoffmann

Rocco Piscatello’s poster design invites the creative community to a major upcoming lecture at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in Manhattan. The speaker is Julia Hoffmann, Creative Director at the Museum of Modern Art; the date is October 25. The poster is printed with several different colors inside the letterforms, representing the creation and disappearance of Hoffmann’s exhibition work for MoMA. Piscatello has been crafting posters for FIT’s well-known Visiting Artist Program lecture series since 2001; they have been honored by, among others, the AIGA, Type Diretors Club, Graphis, GDUSA, CA, Print, HOW and, most recently, in the Mohawk 12 Awards.


Making Farm Credit Cool

When Minneapolis-based ad agency Colle+McVoy relaunched the brand of Farm Credit Service of Mid-America, they gave the farm industry institution a little swagger. A “Strength In Numbers” brand platform is helping to re-invigorated the brand with a new logo and identity system that conveys its strength in rural lending; that tells the lender’s story; and that makes both the farming and the credit industries look as cool as any other. Posters, annual reports, brand book and refresh kit are part of the project. Artistic Celebration

Graphic design firm, Oberlander Group, is celebrating its anniversary with an exhibit of 25 years of work for high profile arts organizations. Located in upstate New York, Oberlander Group has created work for world-famous cultural institutions including New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Miami City Ballet. The exhibit includes work from several well known photographers such as Rodney Smith, Ray Meeks, Richard Corman and Andrew Eccles. The firm’s client base is in higher education, technology, healthcare as well as the arts. The exhibit runs through late September at the Foundry for Art, Design + Culture in Cohoes NY.


Satirizing Hollywood Clichés

A year after ribbing Hollywood’s tendency to stereotype Latinos in a campaign that went viral, Wing returned to create an integrated campaign for this summer’s 2012 HBO New York International Latino Film Festival. The new campaign showed just how formulaic big budget Hollywood movies are by literally illustrating the recipes and tropes for the buddy movie, the alien invasion plot, the sports comeback, the serial killer, chick flick, and more. Brought to life through a series of print ads, animations for tv and web, and an online game, the project had a serious point: to drive attendance, of course, and, indirectly, to remind Hollywood hacks not to relegate Latinos to stereotypical roles like maids and gardners. The movie festival is the premier urban Latino film event in the country showcasing the works of emerging Latino filmmakers in the U.S. and Latin America.
