Students to Watch in 2012
KANSAS CITY ART INSTITUTE (KCAI)
In three words, you could say she’s a bit nerdy, curious, and introverted, but there is more to Samantha Mak than meets the eye. A Dallas TX native, she spent her first two years post-high school exploring traditional analog processes in community college. There, her love for art and design developed, and a vibrant spirit of adventure took flight. Passion, determination, and a studious attitude paved the way for a Student Ambassador scholarship to KCAI. Now a junior in Graphic Design, Samantha has received several awards. She’s interned with Liquid 9 and has plans to join forces with Propaganda 3 soon. “What’s next?
There’s no way of really knowing, but no matter what happens, I wish to always embody the mindset of a student with, for energy’s sake, a cup of joe in hand.”
What have you gained from attending design school?
Attending design school has engaged me more emotionally and intellectually than anything I have ever encountered. It has opened me up to the endless possibilities of design and an array of techniques to approach them with.
